Synagogue in Speyer
Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Speyer
Completed: 2004
The medieval synagogue in Speyer, which exists only as a ruin, was reconstructed on the computer for the exhibition "Europe’s Jews in the Middle Ages" in the Historical Museum of the Palatinate. A simulation film illustrates the history of the building with its various Romanesque and Gothic construction phases. Fadings between the computer model and archaeological findings make it clear to the observer what remains from the Middle Ages and what is derived from the reconstruction. The exhibition was shown in Speyer from November 19, 2004 to March 20, 2005. Thereafter, it could be seen in the Pei building of the German Historical Museum in Berlin.
