Synagogue Langen

City of Langen

Completion: 2009

A reconstruction of the synagogue in Langen, which was destroyed in 1938, was made for the city of Langen. In the first step the visualization of the exterior of this place of worship, built in 1902, was carried out. For a long time nothing was known about the interior of the Langen synagogue. Besides two photographs of the Torah niche, two written documents about the newer painting of the interior of the synagogue by the artist Max Lazarus in 1927 existed. Investigations into the estate of Lazarus in the USA in 2008 brought forth new sources. A photograph of the interior as well as studies to the painting were found. It was first with these new findings that it was possible to make a detailed reconstruction of the interior.
