Crystal Palace London 1851

Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der BRD, Bonn

Fertigstellung: 2011

The Crystal Palace, built for the 1851 World’s Fair in London, was virtually reconstructed for the exhibition “ART AND DESIGN FOR ALL – The Victoria and Albert Museum”. The film shown via a 3D stereo projection consists of three parts:

Presentation of the architectural space: Camera movement of the exterior and the interior of the Crystal Palace show the measurements of the gigantic construction.

Construction of the Crystal Palace: The visitors experience the development of the glass construction step by step – from the laying of the foundation and the flooring to the showing of the elemental method of the construction and the erection and fitting of the supporting elements to the glazing.

Scenes from the World’s Fair: In the last part of the film, scenes from the World’s Fair are three dimensionally recreated from documented contemporary drawings and paintings.
