Bell Tower (Kremlin Moscow)

The State Historical-cultural Museum-

preserve "Moscow Kremlin"

Completed: 2006

For the Moscow Kremlin Museum, a haptic model of the bell tower (16th century) of the Kremlin in Moscow was produced from digital data by means of the plaster printing procedure. The original data is part of a large research project of the Department of Information and Communication Technology in Architecture of the Technical University of Darmstadt and is being processed for Rapid Prototyping. In the plaster printing procedure it is possible to directly apply colors during the production of the model. This procedure is so precise that in the case of the bell tower also the inscriptions below the cupola could directly be printed. The gold painting on the cupola was done by hand.
